How the contractor relationship works
Clean Indeed engages cleaners as independent contractors (1099) — not employees. That means you keep meaningful control over how, when, and whether you take work. Please read the points below carefully before applying.
- • Compensation: Contractors earn 70% of the job total. Clean Indeed retains 30% to cover booking, dispatch, customer service, insurance overhead, and platform costs. Payment is per completed job — no hourly wage, no guaranteed minimum.
- • Independence: You choose which jobs to accept or decline. There are no required shifts, no exclusivity, and no requirement that you only work for Clean Indeed. You may run your own cleaning business and serve other clients.
- • How the work is performed: You control your own methods, route, and order of tasks, provided the job meets the customer's scope and our published quality standards.
- • Training: We provide complimentary onboarding and standards training so the work meets customer expectations. Training is informational and does not create an employment relationship.
- • Starter kit & supplies: We provide a one-time starter kit and an approved cleaning products list. After the starter kit, contractors are responsible for purchasing and restocking their own cleaning products and consumables from the approved list.
- • Vehicle & gas: Contractors provide their own reliable transportation and cover their own fuel, mileage, parking, and vehicle costs.
- • Apparel: A Clean Indeed t-shirt is optional and offered as a courtesy. Contractors may wear their own professional attire.
- • Taxes & insurance: As a 1099 contractor you are responsible for your own federal, state, and self-employment taxes, and for carrying any general liability or workers' compensation coverage required by law for your business.
- • Tools you bring: Standard cleaning tools (vacuum, mop, microfiber, caddy, etc.) are the contractor's responsibility unless otherwise agreed in writing for a specific job.
- • Partner cleaning companies: We also partner with other cleaning companies whose standards align with ours — overflow work, referrals, and joint jobs. If you operate a cleaning company, select "Partner Cleaning Company" as your position below.
